Ballet, Modern and Tap Examinations Classes

Tel: 01248 361306

Academi Westend Academy (AWA) are very proud to teach the syllabus of the Imperial Society of Teachers of Dance (ISTD) for all of our dance classes, Ballet, Modern and Tap dance.
ISTD offers two styles of Ballet, Cecchetti method and Imperial, we are very proud to teach our pupils the Cecchetti Method and these are the examinations that your children will follow under the ISTD whilst studying Ballet with us at AWA.

To give you an idea of who the ISTD is:

‘Imperial Society of Teachers of Dancing (ISTD) is a membership society and regulated awarding organisation which is recognised by the qualification regulators in the UK, namely the Office of Qualifications and Examinations Regulation (Ofqual) in England, Qualifications Wales and the Council of Curriculum, Examinations and Assessments (CCEA) in Northern Ireland.
ISTD provides a portfolio of regulated qualifications which are delivered by Registered Members only.
During the delivery our regulated qualifications, ISTD’s Registered Members provide children’s dance classes and associated regulated examinations as part of the

out-of-school / extracurricular / organised activities for children and young people’

Obviously, the younger the child, or depending on when a pupils starts classes with us, children are at the start of their dance journey, as they progress through their years of training with us and take their examinations and move up through the levels and grades, into the higher grades, the students have the opportunity to earn UCAS points towards university with their qualifications from their dance examinations (this is also the same with LAMDA drama and singing examinations that we run at AWA as well, please read on through this information pack)
This means that no matter whether a child wants to pursue a career in dance or performing arts or not, even their passion for their hobby and the hard work in their examinations throughout the years could actually be a stepping stone for them gaining a place in university as well, no matter what subject they choose to study.

I know this on a personal level, as it was a huge advantage for my own son, who is now studying at university in Manchester and his UCAS points earned through his Dance and Drama exams he achieved with us at AWA were just what he needed to help push him to where he needed to be for his conditional offer and gained him his place in his university course.

At Academi Westend Academy the education of our pupils is of great importance to us and we would never provide anything but the best for our pupils, we would also never expect you to want anything less.

Examinations are great for building a child’s confidence and as they grow through the grades and develop their technique, they will feel the sense of pride in their achievements every year and gaining their qualification and holding that certificate is something they will take with them through the years, especially if they develop into performing arts being where they want to further their education to and even their future career.
