Academi Westend Academy® (originally Gwynedd School of Dance & Performing Arts Centre) has been established in Bangor, North Wales for over 40 years.

Principal, Natalie Robb took over the ballet school in 1997 and has since developed it into an all-round performing arts school.

We offer classes in Cecchetti Ballet, ISTD Tap, Modern and Jazz, LAMDA Singing, Drama & Musical Theatre, Acro, Street Dance/Hip Hip, Flamenco, Stage School / Musical Theatre and Wedding ‘First Dance’ Classes.

In September 2011 we became a LAMDA Examination Centre, being able to offer classes and examinations in Singing, Drama and Musical Theatre, under The London Academy of Music & Dramatic Art (LAMDA).

In June 2012, we became the winners of the award for ‘Best Pre School Class in North Wales’ for our Dancin’ Dotz Class (as voted for by the Netmums members). This was a fantastic honour for our school and a credit to our little Dancin’ Dotz themselves, as well as our teachers. This class has grown from strength to strength over the years and is the very popular start to our Junior Programme ‘Westend Stars’.

In December 2018 we opened the door to our new studio’s on Farrar Road in Bangor and rebranded to ‘Academi Westend Academy®’.

We our very proud to be able to say that we have our own studios in Bangor, our newly refurbished studios, offer our students a fantastic space to learn all different aspects of performing arts and fitness for all the family to enjoy, as well as holding dance themed birthday parties with exciting disco lights to make your child’s party unique and one that they will never forget, we also offer holiday clubs during school holidays, as well as a Performing Arts Summer School.

Our Westend Academy Dancewear and Printing shop is within the same building at the Performing Arts Centre, the shop offers a wide range of dance and gymnastic, as well as accessories. The shop also offers gifts that are ideal for Christmas, Birthdays and other special occasions.

Molly Mocha’s World of Candy is our sweet shop for all your sweet treats! Offering lots of sweet treats from pick and mix to a range of drinks and snacks to enable the children to rebuild their energy after a hard working class!

The Westend Academy Shop is not only for AWA pupils but open to the public too, so everyone is welcome.

Our school prides itself on our friendly and welcoming environment where pupils from 12 months to adult are encouraged to enjoy all aspects of performing arts and fitness. Performing arts is fun and a love of many people, no matter how old or young, no matter what ability, Westend Academy is here to cater for your needs and expectations.

At Westend Academy, whether a child or an adult, our aim is to help develop the pupil’s confidence and improve their co-ordination, rhythm and poise. Boys and girls, lads and lasses, men and woman can be a part of Westend Academy knowing that fun and fitness can be a hobby OR a career and which ever path you decide to take, we are here with you every step of the way.

We are extremely proud of our history of fantastic productions that we have performed in over the years, as well as 25 years of outstanding examination results since Natalie has been Principal of the school.
